Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra MPTF Jazz Quintet Concerts

~ February 22, 2021~ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm~ . ~ ~ February 22, 2021~ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm~ ~ A Few of Our Favourite Things~~The Richard Gillis Quintet is on the live WJO stream concert series on Monday, February 22 from .Leader and trumpeter, Richard Gillis is joined by Neil Watson (alto sax) and Lauren Teterenko (tenor sax), along with two of Winnipeg's finest rhythm players, Will Bonness (piano) and Gilles Fournier (bass) with a few favourites picked by band members along with a couple of original tunes.Neil Watson's favourites choices are Lennie's Pennies (Lennie Tristano) and Arabia (Curtis Fuller), and Lauren has made an arrangement of Wayne Shorter's Backstage Sally. Richard has chosen two compositions that he originally recorded with Icelandic guitarist Bjorn Thoroddsen: Denis is Inn and Querida, as well as a great arrangement of Triste, Stéphane Grappelli's Minor Swing, and Miles' three-horn arrangement of Freddie The Freeloader.The link goes live fifteen minutes before the concerts.
