~ November 4, 2020 to November 24, 2020~ ~ . ~ ~ November 4, 2020 to November 24, 2020~ ~ ~ This is not only an opportunity for our patrons to see new cinema, but is an important way that they can continue to support independent film during this pandemic with 50% of all sales supporting our theatre. One of the most acclaimed music documentaries of all time, Say Amen, Somebody is George Nierenberg's masterpiece — a joyous, funny, deeply emotional celebration of African American culture, featuring  the father of Gospel, Thomas A. Dorsey ("Precious Lord, Take My Hand"); its matron, Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith; and earth-shaking performances by the Barrett Sisters and the O'Neal Twins." But it hasn't been seen in theatres in nearly 30 years. Now George T. Nierenberg's film has been digitally restored in a new 4K Restoration and re-released to theatres. Upon its release in 1982; the late Roger Ebert called it "One of the most joyful movies I've ever seen."  When it was first released in the early 1980s, the film received an overwhelming critical response.Presented in collaboration with the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival.~ ~ ~ ~ Back~ ~ ~ ~ .
