2011 Vaughan Baird Polar Bear Classic Pan-Am Invitational Diving Competition From January 14-16, 2011, the Pam Am Diving Club will host the first qualifying competition for the Canadian Senior Nationals as well as for Age Group Level 1. Now in it’s 42nd year, the recently re-named Vaughan Baird Polar Bear Invitational Diving Competition welcomes an average of one hundred and twenty divers representing twenty two clubs from eight provinces. In addition to the Seniors group, the weekend of competition will include divers as young as 6 or 7 years old , but by far the largest group is B where most of the 14 and 15 year-olds have been diving for anywhere from 4 to 7 years. In this group we will see future Canadian Commonwealth and Olympic hopefuls and certainly the future of diving in the years to come across Canada. The general public is encouraged to come out, cheer our young athletes and see for themselves what makes diving one of sport’s most thrilling events.
