Organic Chemistry By Erik Baker

Organic Chemistry by Erik Baker Organic Chemistry represents the contrasting beauty found throughout our own natural, man-made and metaphysical worlds. The connections that we share with these perceived environments can provoke an emotional response that transcends time and place in a way that can be inexplicably powerful. It is this abstraction of a memory that can visually transport us to a place or a time of peace, tranquility, curiosity, intrigue and passion. Erik’s paintings represent the ambiguity of this personal connection and how the haziness of that memory can influence an emotional response in anyone. His use of different artistic techniques and mediums emphasize the contrast between realism and abstraction as well as our understanding of the organic and the synthetic. He paints to invigorate the soul by cataloguing the moments and experiences that can inadvertently define who we are. Erik Thomas Lewellyn Baker is an emerging Winnipeg artist and designer. He has a degree in Environmental Design with a major in architecture from the University of Manitoba and works as the Head Designer for a prominent Winnipeg based company. Erik’s work varies from paint to pen and ink, landscape to portraits, abstract to realism. He is a self taught artist and this is his first solo exhibition.
