Today the Italian composer is certainly not as famous as Mozart or even Antonio Salieri, but in his time was very much celebrated. WSO principal flutist Jan Kocman and WSO flutist Alex Conway are cast in the spotlight with Cimarosa's Concerto for 2 flutes which was written at the height of his popularity. To end this part of the program, the WSO strings get another opportunity to delight audiences with Béla Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances. For the final half of this concert the WSO brass takes centre stage. They'll perform works by English Renaissance composer John Dowland and contemporary Canadian composer Violet Archer.
