Past festivals have honoured Samuel Beckett, Bertolt Brecht, Eugene O'Neill, David Mamet, Arthur Miller, Caryl Churchill, August Strindberg, George Bernard Shaw and Stephen Sondheim. in 2018, Royal MTC and a host of independent companies will celebrate the life and work of John Patrick Shanley.The 2018 Master Playwright Festival will feature Irish-American playwright John Patrick Shanley. His extensive body of work includes an Oscar and Writers Guild of America award for Moonstruck and Pulitzer Prize for Doubt.ShanleyFest will have a variety of 11 full productions, two play readings, three films and two lectures.
