The Ultimate Sacrifice: Remembering The Fallen

Transcona Historical Museum presents:"The Ultimate Sacrifice:Remembering the Fallen " The Ultimate Sacrifice: Remembering the Fallen is the newest exhibit of the Transcona Historical Museum. During both World Wars the small town of Transcona was greatly affected with having over 400 men enlist in WWI and over 800 men and women enlist in WWII. Tragically many never returned. Today Transcona is part of the City of Winnipeg, and is still affected by war as Canadians are currently engaged in battle. Out of the 152 Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan 4 called Winnipeg home and an additional 3 were from communities in Manitoba. This exhibit, dedicated to those who died for our freedom, will examine the lives of 14 of the men from Transcona who died during both world wars and the 7 men from Winnipeg and Manitoba communities who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country in Afghanistan. Highlights of the exhibition: Names and photographs of Transconians killed in action WWI and WWII The stories of 14 of the Transcona men who died during WWI and WWII The stories of the 7 Manitobans killed in action in Afghanistan Names and photographs of all 152 Canadians Killed in Action in Afghanistan Join us in Remembrance.
